Welcome

Dear Residents,

We hope that this website will become an important source of community information to your home or business. The website went live on July 1st 2003. As being a new site, please give us time to provide you with all of the Township's information.

The Township has begun to experience the effects of development pressure that has consumed so much of our neighboring municipalities, and our population continues to grow. The US 2000 Census has us at 1787 people, up from 1443 in 1990. Despite this development pressure, the Board of Supervisors is committed to preserve the historic and rural character of our community, and has taken several steps in that direction.

Over 1200 of the Township's 10,494 acres are under private conservation easements. The 1994 Zoning Ordinance defined and established land use regulations for steep slopes, floodplains and wetlands which dramatically restrict sensitive areas from development. In 1999, the Township purchased, in conjunction with South Conventry Township, Warwick Township, Chester County, and the French & Pickering Creek Trust, 25 acres of land to add to the Warwick County Park. In 2000, the Township purchased an additional 6.5 acres of land adjacent to the municipal building. Finally, the Board of Supervisors has established a Conservation Committee to advise the board on conservation matters. All of the initiatives have been with one purpose in mind - preserving our community.

Sincerely,

East Nantmeal Board of Supervisors
